Morts Sludgey stoner metal! Can't say there's anything here to make it particularly stand out, it's pretty standard for the genre. Of course if you're a fan of the genre (as I am) you'll find plenty to like about it! I dunno if it's just me, though, but at times I feel like the sludginess is a bit forced, as if the band would actually be more comfortable with a quicker, groovier pace, especially the first halves of each track... Anyway, my pickiness aside, this rocks and is worth getting! Favorite track: Soul Scour.

Soul Scour 10:05
Not easy to sleep alone, having no one to call your own the devil came along to steal, and with one swipe he got his feel All my souls been sold to him, and the rest is going limb to limb And if i don't got no one to love, i'll draw me some red and call it enough No special rider to comfort me, I'll just let death show me Once i'm gone there will be no more, layin dead for the devil on the hard killing floor No Special Rider

Dark Door 12:09
Mistress with eyes of black, staring at me I want to take you, undo your dress of lust Let me inside to the hell you dwell in, don't tell the dark lord He'll never know if I sneak out the back door I'm her backdoor man, I'm the devils best friend She aint leavin me, turn your back on him. I'm always sneaking round, sins are done but never found
3.
The Followed 08:32
I was the black hound at the crossroads. Following the passers with a curse. Left in the darkness of a lost track. I found my home but lost my soul. My masked mistress left me for good. Laying on a sickbed left for dead. She was my gift and my burden. Gone now I search for death. Until I find it I wont rest my head. Soon deaths hands will put me to bed. Cursed deathbed made. As she leaves my grave. I am alone. Now under dirt in my soil bed. Stuck at the crossroads I once fled. Stuck inside a place without trace. Living in memories I can't replace.

about

Balam Newport, Rhode Island

A quintet of power born in Newport, RI. It's the directness of Balam‘s attack that makes their debut so impressive, as well as the thrust of their tonality and how smoothly they are able to find a niche within the dreary scope of their doom. Since their self titled release, they have devastated the East Coast with unrivaled live performances, the is no question; Balam are on their way up. ... more
